Robo Aerial was hired to capture the marketing event produced by the Robert Bosch Tools Corporation. Robo Aerial had hired out a select crew of artist to take on the task of photographing and filming the event hosted by Bosch Tools. The company had set up a pop up shop in a location that was under construction, now the Marriott hotel in the south loop, but during this shoot, the building was nearing its completion.
The crew met early in the morning and tested and prepped the gear. We were to roll out to the location from our meetup.
Bosch Tools had decided to set up a pop-up shop for the hard-working construction workers at the building. The idea was simple, they had free reign access to all the tools and if they liked the tools they got to keep the ones that made their jobs easier and got a deal for purchasing more Bosch Tools in the future.
RoboAerial was tasked with documenting the event in a way which would immortalize the magnanimous task of building this skyscraper while also furthering the Bosch Tools brand recognition and integrity through an active engagement event.
RoboAerial was in charge of the drone operations on this shoot, capturing the building from all odd angles and making sure we had the widest lens on the DJI Inspire 1, or we used the DJI Phantom 4 for close quarters flying. It was a decently challenging shoot.
We left the Canon 5D Mark III on a slider to record a time-lapse with a wide lens, the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8.
I was brought on by RoboAerial to cover them covering the event, and then get any other shots I wanted for myself.
During that time, I was frequently brought on to be the Behind the Scenes photographer or second shooter for RoboAerial, always a fun time and extraordinary shoot when working with them.
One of the benefits of working on medium to large budget shoots is that they usually have much better craft services than small budget, indie films and commercials (although I have been delightfully proven wrong on certain occasions!) Thanks to Bosch Tools for providing delicious lunch for the whole crew!
