Editorial was an important part of creating the concept since the client had requested a multitude of hidden cuts to be the transition points between scenes.
The scripting phase was the most important. this allowed the client and the cinematographer and the post department to be on top of everything while being figuratively and metaphorically on the same page. After director Ali Mango completed the script it was time for him and Cinematographer mar Khiyami to come up with storyboards for the client to approve of.
Choosing a post-production software is key when considering the project at hand. For the Silkypel project it was essential that we used a software that was both powerful and capable of edit, color, and visual effects. The quick turnaround time required a reliable software that would not crash on every input. Our basic choices were Avid Media Composer and Blackmagic Davinci Resolve 17.
The reasoning behind choosing Blackmagic Davinci Resolve 17 is due to the fact that using a RAW workflow was necessary to keep the quality as high as possible throughout the work flow.
Using Blackmagic Davinci Resolve allowed us to use advanced color and masking techniques in order to best amplify the product and make sure that the colors used in the background are matching the brand color pallet.
